Below are short descriptions of particular voyages made by ships that brought immigrants to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). The passengers, found so far, are also listed with links to researchers.


Maitland (1854)

The 'Maitland' left Portsmouth 03 Jun 1854 and arrived Hobart Town 16 Sep 1854. On board were 301 steerage immigrants made up of 62 male adults, 146 female adults and 93 children under 14 years with 1 cabin passenger, W.C. Collingswood, Surgeon & Supt. During the voyage 1 man aged 34 died of inflammation of the lungs and 1 child aged 10 weeks died of atrophy. There were 2 births on board.
