Assessment or Valuation Rolls

An often untapped resource for genealogists is the Valuation Rolls (sometimes called Assessment Rolls). These lists were published annually in the Hobart Town Gazette & Tasmanian Government Gazette beginning with Hobart in 1847 and Launceston in 1853, other districts follow in 1858. It's important to note that the early lists when stated as Hobart or Launceston can cover surrounding areas. Below is a sample showing the information available from using this resource.
