Subject: Sandner vulgo Sandtner, Santner
Sandtner: "Antony Sandtner vermeldt 1619 Bartolome Sandtner filius".
Vielen Dank
im voraus! Peter Sandner

Subject: Steinhofer in Baumhacken
My grandfather, Joseph Steinhofer, immigrated to the U.S. in 1908. His
naturalization papers list Baumhacken as his home town yet we are unable
to locate it. Are you aware of a village/city with that name? Stories

Hungarian/Austrian border.
I am trying to locate that village/city as well as my grandfather's

following:
Name: Franklin Blassl (My Great-Great Grandfather)
Date of Birth: Mar. 1847
Place of Birth: Aust. Germany
Year immigrated to the United States: 1885
Year married: 1870
His parents were listed as being born in Aust. Germany
His Wife: listed as Mary in the 1900 census, and Amilia in the 1910
Census.

Their children: Franklin - born Aug. 1881, Joseph - born Oct. 1883, and

well, probably with their mother. There were 2 other siblings, but no
indication of them on the Census records. They may have remained in
Germany.

Subject: POHL / LEGLAR (Legler) >AUS>USA
I am searching for information on Franz Josef POHL before and after he
immigrated to the United States. On his naturalization paper, he listed
Neustadl, Austria as his last residence. He left the Port of Bremen on
the 3rd of October, 1855 and arrived at the Port of Galveston (Texas,
USA) on or about the 12th day of December, 1855.
Franz Josef POHL and his wife Anna Maria LEGLAR (LEGLER?) and their
four children: Franz, Jr., (age 8) Anna & Sarah (twins) (age 5) and
Anton William (age 11 months) arrived from Austria and settled in
Fayetteville, Fayette County, TEXAS, USA. Later moving to Schulenburg,
Texas and Hallettsville, Texas.
I, also, need to know where in Austria that I could write for background
information (births, deaths, marriage, Catholic Church records)
regarding both Franz Josef Pohl and Anna Maria Leglar (Legler). I
believe that Neustadl, Austria is near the banks of the Danube River.
If anyone may know of his/her surviving relatives in Austria or the USA,
I would appreciate any and all information that you could send my way.

other members of her extended family. her Grand father came from austria
and many years ago we visited austria to a village called strasswalchen
in the lakes, and met one of her uncles who has since passed away.
Pepe Jesinger's shop in the centre of the village,
in the square, with the cemetery up the stairs and round the back. we
met Pepe in the summer of 1965 when we called, he died a few years later
and I believe the shop was sold but My father-in-law had photographs of
the shopwith the very large tree in front of the shop as a small
sapling.
believe that Pepe was my wifes great uncle. When we visited
Strasswalchen we called in at the cemetery to find her Great

believe it has now been removed.

Subject: Tyrol (Tirol) Ancestry
My ancestors on both my mother's and father's sides were Tyrolean. I am
especially interested in the history of the Austrian Province of South Tyrol (Tirol) which was ceded to Italy in around the time of the First World War. My family to this day declares that they are and always will be
Austrians--although the language is definitely an Italian dialect.
Since I have found some relatives who are also interested in preserving
this very distinctive, little-known culture, and have discovered some
interest abroad as well, I am very interested in hosting and coordinating a site for this particular "country."
Can you advise?

Subject: Odrati, Austria
Am attempting genealogical research of my wife's maternal family. The name
is Brosch. Her uncle Louis (Aloise) Brosch stated, on his intention to
naturalize in the USA, that he was born in Odrati, Austria. Can you give me
any clue as to how I may find that location? The family spoke German, but
admitted to having Polish blood. Louis' mother told of being Bohemian, all
of which figures with the pre-1900 history of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
What source can I seek find that specific location?
Thanks.
