Subject: SCHMELZER

Looking for info. on SCHMELZER family from Austria. Anthony J. Schmelzer came with his parents and 2 brothers and a sister to Detroit, MI. He was Anthony J. Schmelzer, b. Jan 1899. He said that when he visited his home town in his later years, it had been wiped out. What does that mean? Is there a surname directory of some kind to indicate where in Austria we could begin our search? They were very strong Lutherans. Anthony m. ____ BROTZ. Please contact me or contact Sandy at: sandy@wiche.edu. It is her grandfather Anthony who gave her this much info. She has done no genealogy, but would love to find out where this family comes from. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Carol
