On several research trips to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Susan Vargas Murphy and I have made digital copies of the UPEC Membership Records that have been microfilmed by the LDS Church. We have always felt that these records are an important resource and have most, but not all, of them copied. I have tried for several years, to obtain permission from the UPEC to publish these records online on the Azores GenWeb, but have failed to get a response to my inquiries. So, in lieu of that, I am offering to do lookups for anyone who requests one. Please use the form below. I will answer all requests in as timely a manner as possible.
The dates of these records cover from approx. 1880 - 1913 so to be in these records, your ancestor would need to be an adult sometime during these years. Some, go a few years more, but all are generally in this time frame. It is a small window in time, but, if you can find your ancestor in these records, it might help you to discover important information about them such as the island they were from or, if you're really lucky, the village name.
Cities I'm able to do lookups for ...(If you don't see it here, please don't send a request for it.):
Alvarado, Castroville-Watsonville, Centerville, Decoto, Half Moon Bay, Irvington, Livermore, Mendocino, Milpitas, Mission San Jose, Modesto, MorroCayucos, Newark, Oakland, Oakland-Sacramento, Pescadero, Pleasanton, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, San Leandro, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sausalito, Selma, Sonora-Antioch, Stockton, Vallejo/Solano Co/ Benicia, Warm Springs, Watsonville, West Oakland
Good luck and happy hunting!
