Agenda:
The Planning Meeting will cover the goals of the SGG, group structure, meeting times/locations, meeting structure, dues structure, and possible uses of funds.
At our 2006-2007 Planning Meeting last year we agreed on the following guidelines. Please review them and determine if you would add, delete or modify these guidelines for 2008 prior to the meeting.
SGG Guidelines and Plans for 2007 - 2008:
- 1. The prime goal of the SGG organization is to assist members in conducting their genealogical research efforts.
- 2. SGG will have 10 meetings per year (none in July and August) and meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 3:30 PM for 1.5 hours.
- 3. Each meeting will have a key topic presentation (determined by the members) that will last 15 – 30 minutes (unless the whole meeting is used for a specific task like training or research). This will be followed by a roundtable discussion where each attendee will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the key topic presentation or bring up items of interest (new web sites, software, publications, etc.) to the SGG members in attendance.
- 4. Uses of the dues that members have contributed – decide where we should spend our money:
- · New versions of Genealogy Software (MAC or Windows)
- · Purchase a full membership in Ancestry.com that would be able to be accessed by SGG members on their home systems or in the computer room
- · Printed Matter – purchase general purpose reference books
- · Subscriptions to genealogy newsletters
- 5. One of the goals of the Planning Meeting is to establish a priority list of presentations from the following list. Please review the list and rank the topics that you would like to see scheduled (and any that you could present). Also feel free to add any topics you would be interested in. Please bring this list with you to the Planning Meeting.
