This
Genealogical organization, founded in 1927,
of the Women
Descendants of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery
is made up of lineal descendants of the 24 Founders of 1637 and for
all members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company between
1638-1774. for lineal descendants of the General court of
Massachusetts Bay when the Charter was granted in 1638, namely, the
Governor, the Governor's Council and for the Deputies to the General
Court of 1638. Also included in the Ancient
and Honorable society of women descendants are lineal
descendants of the Clergymen who were invited to preach an Annual
Election Sermon.
Lineal descendants of these several groups must
possess the accepted genealogical qualification for membership. The
national genealogist will check any applicant's papers for accuracy.
A local genealogist will check any applicant's papers before they
are sent on to the national genealogist. This genealogical
organization of the Ancient and Honorable
women descendants exists in 23 states.
The local members are anxious to help any woman
who learns that she is a lineal descendant of a member of the
Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company. If you have never
experienced filling out genealogical papers, the local members will
be happy to help you learn how to prove your lineage.
The founding members of this genealogical
organization were: Mrs. Francis A. Tappan,
Mrs. C. N. Jewett and Mrs. Lucile T. Moreland. This genealogical
organization of the Ancient and Honorable Women Descendants was
founded in Kansas City, Missouri.
