About Our Chapter We were named for our historic town and county of Yuma, Arizona, both taking their names from the Yumas, a loose confederation of tribes including the Quechan, Cocopah, and Mohave who had occupied this part of Arizona long before the arrival of the white man. Yuma Chapter was formed in 1928, and our charter members included Organizing Regent Mrs. Regina Mathews and Mrs. Clarissa Winsor, the third white child born in Arizona Territory on September 3, 1880. Another Charter member, Mary Spaulding, founded the Yuma County Historical Society, now a division of the Arizona Historical Society. We are the southwestern most chapter in Arizona. Meetings & Membership Yuma Chapter Meetings are held the second Saturday of each month. We meet October through April to accommodate our Winter Visitors who are welcome members. Our meeting time is 10:30 a.m. with luncheon following at 11:30 a.m.We recognize that many women work or have numerous weekday responsibilities and commitments, and keep to Saturday meetings to enable active participation for the majority of our members. We have members who will assist prospective members, young and old, in proving who their Patriot ancestor was. We can also help your children to join our Yuma Crossing Society - Children of the American Revolution (CAR). CAR membership is open to male and female children from birth to age 22. If you would like to attend one of our meetings, either to explore membership or as a visiting DAR member, please contact our Membership Chairman, Lois LeMay.
