signed petition stating oath of fidelity but that he was not a freeman [S82]

"Henry apparently was also close to the Winthrop family and also a
neighbor and possible relative to John Gage. It would seem that
either John Gage's wife, Amce who died in June 1658, was a sister to
Henry, or Henry married a sister of John Gage. John Gage died 26
March 1673 and Henry was one of the appraisers of the estate, and also
for that of Jonathan Gage's estate 15 March 1674/5."
[S82]
Quote: "In investigating the family history the Kingsburys appear to
have been an eminently respectable people, occupying a prominent and
often a leading place in the communities where they dwelt:
conservative, of sound sense and judgement, and having a keen sense on
honor; peacemakers and peace lovers; not litigious, prefering rather
to suffer wrong than to do wrong; good advisors, relied on by their
neighbors, dependable in all things; not ambitious, never striving to
lead, but not shirking responsibility and usefullness; in short, most
excellent citizens. There seems to have been a strong military
tendancy in the family, and in this profession it has won its greatest
distinction; but in theology, medicine, and law it has a good record.
Of course, to all these characteristics there shave been exceptions,
but the record is creditable. May it long continue." Frederick John
Kingsbury, LLD. THE GENEALOGY OF THE DESCENDANTS OF HENRY KINGSBURY OF
IPSWICH AND HAVERHILL, MASS., F.J. Kingsbury and Mary Kingsbury
Talcott, 1905, Hartford Press, Pg 9.
[S82]
"In the book KINGSBURY GENEALOGY, by Arthur Murray Kingsbury, 1962, it
is determined that Henry is the son of Thomas and the cousin to John
and Joseph of Dedham. It is also noted that there were other members
of the family who fled to Scotland and Ireland and some from there
also came to the new world later. Apparently the Kingsburys embraced
Puritanism, were from Suffolk County, and were under threat from
Oliver Cromwell, Lord Protector of the Commonwealth. He was married
to Susanna GAGE (?) about 1640 in Ipswich, Essex, MA."
