Olive Carter about 1973 related story (to Robert Carter) of how
Pulaski grew up with two girls who were cousins (daughters of a
brother and sister married to a brother and sister of another family).
He married one and then moved to PA where she died in childbirth so he
returned to CT and married the other. This story fits with a ledger
of a Pulaski Carter which notes of such items as a wagon, provisions,
and a baby coffin.
'Pulaski Carter youngest son of Phinehas and Cynthia (Butts) Carter
married 1st Susan Sophia Spaulding Aug 5, 1839 and lived with her in
Wursted, Conn until 1841 when they removed to Providence, Luzerne Co.,
PA. She was a daughter of Benjamin and Parmelia (Ingalls) Spaulding
and step daughter to Parmelia (Carter) Spaulding, sister of Pulaski.'
'A little daughter was born to Pulaski and Susan Sophia Carter Oct 24,
1841. She was named for her mother who died November 1st of that year.
The child died July 28, 1842. They were interred in Griffin Grave Yard
but in 1879 were removed to the newly opened Dunmore Cemetery' 'On
August 7, 1843 Pulaski Carter was married to Olive Ingalls of
Canterbury, Conn, dau of Marvin and Amelia Spalding Ingalls. She was
born in Abington, Conn Nov 13, 1819. She was a double cousin of the
first wife (intimate friends from childhood) a months different in
ages. They were said to be remarkably alike in form and feature'
