Chilcoten, in the Electoral District of Cariboo, Williams Lake Division, is an open country. At present stock raising is the only industry, as means of communication are very bad. Game is very plentiful and occasional hunting parties go from the coast there for the sake of sport. The climate is very dry and healthy, while the winters are rather cold. Crops require irrigation, but water is plentiful. At present it is reached by stage from Ashcroft, distances 150 miles, change at Soda Creek, distance 40 miles, which is the nearest telegraph station. Population about 50
