Many genealogical societies, historical societies, museums, and other groups have special projects that they are doing that will be of benefit to the genealogical community.

This page will be a space to list the projects and provide contact addresses for those who wish to help or to know more about the projects being undertaken.

A proposed Ontario GenWeb project to transcribe the Birth, Marriage, and Death index reels held at Archives of Ontario is in the works. A survey is being conducted to gauge approximately how many people would be willing to volunteer bring this information online in a FREE searchable database. If you're interested, or would like more information, please visit the volunteer survey.

1901 Census Indexing Project

The British Columbia Genealogical Society is indexing the 1901 Census. You can help out in a number of ways - extraction, proofing, computer entry, and so on. Contact Iline Gronlune, the Special Projects Coordinator, at the next BCGS meeting.

Pioneer Registry

If your B.C. pioneer was in the province before 1900, you can submit the name for the third edition of the Registry. Submission forms are available at the BCGS meetings or through the mail.

Reunion for descendants of Hudson Bay Company employees from Red River Settlement and Lower Fort Garry - 2005
The Lower Fort Garry Volunteer Association is planning a reunion of the descendants of Hudson Bay Company employees from Red River Settlement and Lower Fort Garry in the summer of 2005. This will be part of the celebrations of the 175th anniversary of Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site during 2005-2006.

Anticipated activities for the reunion include: 3-4 days of activities, bus tours, entertainment, meals, etc. The grand reunion will take place on the last day. A registration fee covering all activities during the reunion will be charged.
