The geographic area of BC serviced by the Peace River GenWeb site includes two regions commonly referred to as the BC Peace River Area and the Northern Rockies. The Peace River area in common terms applies to the communities that are physicaly located south and north of the "Peace River" and are commonly referred to as the North and South Peace areas.

Communities located in the Northern Rockies, in terms of electoral districts, are referred are located North Peace Elecoral District, have been added to the service area of the Peace River GenWeb due to administration of the GenWeb network. The BC GenWeb network at present has divided BC into 9 service regions. These regions and their boundries can be accessed through the "Regions Page Link" if you would like quick access to another BC Regional GenWeb site. Should development of the GenWeb network facilitate further divisions at a future date the Northern Rockies may one day have a Regional web site of it's own.

The Peace River GenWeb site provides services for two electoral districts. These being the Dawson Creek Electoral division and the North Peace Electoral District with the dividing boundy being the "Peace River". The North Peace District contains all communites laying north of the Peace River and the Dawson Creek district containing those that lie south of the "Peace River". Mention is made of the electoral districts as the electoral map links provide the best resource currently available on the internet for locating communities serviced by the Peace River GenWeb site.

To add further confusion to researching the Peace River area, there is a city of the name Peace River located in Alberta and the surrounding area is also referred to as the Peace River area.

The Electoral Maps for the Dawson Creek and North Peace Electoral Districts provide visual locations for most of the communities included in Peace River GenWeb site.
