PROJECTS:
In the Spring of 2010
club members took on the project of photographing all the headstones in
the Prince Rupert Fairview Cemetery,
including the Columbarium, and
posting them on the www.findagrave.com website. In use since
1912, there are approximately 7000 graves in this cemetery, and so far we have photographed and posted about 5000 headstones. This
project has also involved the finding, cleaning and lifting of those
headstones that have sunk below the moss and muskeg.
Club members have also attempted to find and photograph headstones
of early Prince Rupert burials between 1904 and 1912 on Garden Island, across the Harbour from the city.
