I am looking for any information I can find concerning my father's first marriage and the son that resulted from that marriage. My father is George Powell. He was born and raised in Powell River, his sister is Mary Masales, whom still lives in Powell River. I am trying to find my father's son, my brother. My father remarried in 1952 to my mother, and so I am assuming his son to be born in 1949 or 1950. My father's first wife's maiden name was Patterson or Pattison, something very similar. I am assuming when they divorced, she remarried and the son (my brother) was adopted by the new husband. If anyone has information regarding any of these people, please let me know. I will be visiting Powell River Feb.17th -20th with my curling husband. While I am in Powell River I am hoping to learn more about my husbands uncle, Charles Edward Wright, engineer, who died in Powell River on Oct.8, 1933. I do have a copy of his death registration and marriage registration. His wife was the former Catherine Vasey Pashley and I know that she died in Vancouver Jan.30,1980.I aslo have a photocopy of a picture showing Charles Wright on a tugboat and am hoping this is the same Charles Wright.I am wondering if there are old newspapers that can be searched in your community.

Howdy, I am trying to find out about a relative who was married to a Mr. Zaccarelli who lived in Westview, BC in 1932. I think it was Henrico Zaccarelli - he went by Harry or Henry. The woman in question is Wilma (nee Cone). She was born about 1902 in Iowa, then was married to a Mr. Girard Francis Lyman by 1924, then she disappeared. I thought perhaps you folks might have access to old directories or maybe, point me in a direction where I might figure this out. I sure would appreciate anything you might do to help. Thanks

I was born and raised in Powell River and have many fond memories. My father, Joseph Herbert Love, owned and operated "Community Laundry" in Wildwood and also "Dee Jay Cleaners" in Westview. We lived in Mowatt Bay. I don't have many memories of my Dad because he died of a heart attack at the age of 38. I was only 7 or 8. But now I am trying to find my family's history and finding it quite difficult. I do know he, or his father landed on the East Coast from Ireland and I believe the ship was the "White Star". I would like to go to Ireland some day and visit relatives before I'm too old. I'm 54 now. Any help from anyone would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have started my family tree in the past month and find it very interesting. My family came from America. I would think that this was in the 1800's. My Great Grandfather was John Alexander Clement Powell, born about 1884. I understand in South Africa, Johannesburg. So his parents I think came by ship from America. He dropped the Clement when he got married. I have read about the boer war and discovered that his wife Phyllis Ida Freemantle lived for a while in Cullinan. I live in Cullinan.
