Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from September to June (no meetings in July or August) at 7:00 pm at The Church of the Latter Day Saints [Mormon] at 1490 Beryl Road.
For those not familiar with its location, it is behind the Lakeview School. If you are coming from town turn onto Gook Road-the first turn off on the left after the lights at Maple Park-if you are coming from the south the last turn on the left before the lights at Maple Park and take the first right turn off of Gook onto Beryl Road/Street for a couple of blocks and you end up in the Church Parking lot.
NOTE: Although a branch of the B.C.G.S., a specific membership is required to receive their newsletter, or for the use of their facilities.
Membership entitles members to use and borrow material from the club library. Membership includes three issues of the club newsletter Cariboo Notes. They may also put queries in the newsletter free of charge. Stories about member's families and their research are encouraged. Items that will aid other family history researchers are welcome. Also articles on the local history and pioneers are welcome.
The Society presently has a small genealogical library, a microfiche/film reader, microfiche readers and some research aids. Our objective is to increase our library holdings on general genealogical topics, and to develop specific holdings according to membership interest. These books, research aids, fiche and CD's/DVD's may be borrowed by society members for local use. Members of the public may use the library but may not borrow from it.
The library has a good collection of genealogical information related to the Cariboo Gold Rush, particularly for Wells and Barkerville.
A complete listing of library holdings is available to members, in a simple listing, an indexed listing and by a searchable database.
