British Isles Family History Society – U.S.A.Member Services |
All members receive the bimonthly newsletter and biannual journal, and enjoy the opportunity to participate in monthly meetings and study group workshops and an annual seminar.
Members are encouraged to submit a surname registration form on the families they are researching. Submissions are added to the Surname Register periodically and are also published in the BIFHS–USA JOURNAL.
The society exchanges journals with other genealogy societies, in the British Isles and around the world. These societies are usually location-oriented, typically focusing on a county or set of counties. Their journals can be a great resource, but they are sometimes overlooked or forgotten by our members. Beginning with late 2005 issues, the table of contents for each journal received can be found on this website, and you can browse the contents at your leisure, noting any articles you want to read. The journals themselves can be found at the Los Angeles Family History Library.
BIFHS–USA can provide knowledgeable conference speakers to lecture to other societies on various aspects of British, Irish, and American research. Contact the President for more information.
BIFHS–USA is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies (FFHS) , the Council of Irish Genealogical Organisations (CIGO), the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), and the National Genealogical Society (NGS). The Society also exchanges journals with many other national and international societies.
