The Irish Study Group of the British Isles Family History Society – U.S.A. was formed in 1994 under the leadership of Nancy Lee Bier, co-founder and former president of BIFHS–USA. The purposes of the study group are
BIFHS–USA does not maintain a separate library, but has donated its research materials to the Los Angeles Family History Library, where they may be consulted free of charge. The call number for library holdings on Ireland is 941.5. Group MeetingsThe Irish Study Group holds periodic meetings after the monthly general meetings of BIFHS–USA at the Los Angeles Family History Library located at 10741 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles. Meeting dates and topics are announced in the newsletter and included in the meetings listing on this website. Any BIFHS-USA member may join the Irish Study Group with no extra fee required. All meetings are free of charge, though members may occasionally be asked to help defray the costs of class handouts. The Irish Study Group does not charge any membership or consultation fees. Meeting attendees are free to conduct personal research in the world-renowned collection of Irish materials at the Los Angeles Family History Library. The Study Group Leader and other members will be available to consult about individual research. Projects
