This index is compiled from different sources, and for now it contains entries for about 1900 cities and villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is not complete, and if you do have information about other cities and villages, please let me know. You may browse this list alphabetically (indexed by English alphabet rather than Bosnian, as letters with hatchek would increase possibility to make mistake), and other indexing options are under development. Pages are generated out of database, and plan is to re-generate them bi-weekly (or when a relevant number of updates happen). Names of the cities are as they were in 1991. as they are most often used on maps that you may find in bookstores and on-line. However, name changes throughout history will be added soon.
Bosnia and Herzegovina consists of seven geographical regions, and that is division that we will use on this site, rather than administrative units that have been changing constantly in last hundred and fifty years. Those regions are:
- Central
- Eastern
- Northern
- Northwestern
- Northeastern
- Southeastern
- Western
Significant number of name changes happened in last couple of years, and new names will be listed also, but it does not mean that I am in any way endorsing those names.
