Minutes of HM Council: 16 September 1727

At a Council holden at the house of Mrs Eliza. Lusher at Crow Lane the 16th of September 1727.

This day His Excellency the Governor communicated to the Board a copy of a letter of Lycense from his Majesty "Given at the Court of St James" the 17th day of May 1727 granting him leave to return into Great Britain, for a space of six months etc. Whereupon it was the advice of the Council, that the Assembly be call'd before His Excellency's departure, and the same to be communicated to them.

Ordered that James Carter Clerk to this Board, take care to have His Excellcy. the Governor's commission and instructions copyed for the use of the President and that he bring in his accnt. of the charge thereof, in order to be paid out of the Publick Treasury.

Ordered that a special commission be forthwith issued directing the Judges of Assize to try three Negroe men now in prison; which court is to be held at such time and place as the said Judges shall think fit.
