Minutes of HM Council: 25 September 1727

At a Council holden at the house of Mrs Margaret Zuill in St Georges the 25th day of September 1727.

Present:

Capt Danl Tucker

This day pursuant to His Majesty's Royal Proclamation, Robert Dinwiddie Esq Collector of Customs, James Maydman Lieut. and Wlater Mitchel Enseign of the Independent Company, and Saml Smith gent. Secretary and Provost Marshall took oaths of allegiance to His Majesty and the oaths for the due execution of their offices; also Perient Trott Esq Speaker & Leond White Jun Esq a member of the Assembly took the oaths appointed by the above mentioned proclamation and as directed to the said Perient Trott & Leond White ESq and the said Saml Smith Secty for qualifying the members of the Assembly.

This day Andru Auchinleck Esq made oath to an account of the liquor tax in behalf of and as guardian for John Tucker, a minor, son of Maj Henry Tucekr, late Treasurer of these Islands.

Eodem Die in the afternoon the Council sate.

The same members as in the forenoon and Lt Coll John Jennings this day took the oaths appointed by Act of Parliament and as Councillor of these Islands pursuant to His Majtys Royal Proclamation before mentioned.

Coll John Trimingham, Lt Coll John Jennings, Dr Andru Auchinleck, Francis Jones, & John Butterfield Esq are appointed a committee of the Council to meet a committee of the Assembly in order to draw up a humble address to congratulate His Majesty happy accession to the Crown of Great Britain.
