Minutes of HM Council: 14 November 1727

Att a Council holden at the house of Mrs Eliza. Peniston widow at Flatts on Tuesday the 14th day of Nov. 1727.

Then was read the order of council of the 16th September last concerning the making out of a commission for the speedy tryall of three negroes then in prison; as also the order of council relating to a complaint of the 7th instant; Dinwiddie vrs. Vardill and a return of the proceedings of John Jennings, Paul Paynter & Moore Darrell Esqs who were by the said order impowered to hear the said complaint.

Then appeared before this board Rob. Dinwiddie Esq in order to speak to the complaint by him made on the 7th instant against Capt. Jerem. Burrows and at the same time the said Burrows appeared according to the order made therein.

Upon hearing the complaint of the said Robert Dinwiddie Esq and the information of Samuel Smith Provost Marshall and reading the petition of Capt Jeremiah Burrows by him this day exhibited. This Board having taken into consideration the said Burrows are inclinable to believe that Burrows had no fell design by such ungarded esperssions as proceeding from liquor.

Therefore do allow his submission and the acknowledgement of his misbehavior therein set forth.
