Minutes of HM Council: 17 July 1687
At a councell held at St Georges the 17th July 1687. Then presented a petition of Hugh Hardins, Miles Higgs, John Sturrup, Daniell Stowe, and John Cornish signifing that their names was put to a declaration without their knowledg and sent to the Lords of the Counsell for trade and foraigne plantations which rendered the people in the country great disturbers of the peace and quiet of these Islands. Capt Samuell Brangman being accused for doing the same were by the Governe examined, and his HonE & Counsell finding he did put the mens names to said declaration ordered him the said Captain Brangman to pay the some of five pounds or the value thereof for the publique use of these Islands.
