Minutes of HM Council: 5 September 1687
At a Councell Table held at St Georges September 5th 1687.

Upon the petition of Anthony White & James Wale attorneys to Mr Thomas Lynton, mercht. at Barbadoes ordered that the said petitioners and Mr Thomas Cook (who formerly was the said Lyntons attorney) made their respective appearances at the next Councell.
The Governe & Counsell condescend to the proposals given unto the Assembly by Boas Sharpe, as to Smiths Fforte and whatever the said Sharpe doth doe to the said fforts as to its reparation more than he hath offered he is to be paid as two men shall judge reasonable, which men are appointed by His Hone. viz Capt Samuell Brangman, Lieut. William Jones, & Thomas Stowe.
The Governor with the advice of his Councell taking into consideration that the greatest parte of these Islands are overspread with ants which are destructive to corne, inso much that a want of corne is likely to ensue unless the islands receive supply from other places, ordered that a proclamation be issued out prohibiting the carrying away any corne of the growth of these Islands for the space of a year saving what is fitt for the necessary supply of persons bound out to sea.
Capt Thomas Richards, Capt William Peniston, Mr Anthony Jones, Mr Joseph Darrell, Mr John Jancey, of the Quorum. Are appointed to be of the court for troyall of John Melton now in prison. And to hold a court for tryall of all causes under forty shillings for the ease of the Assizes; ordered that Mr Richard Pitt have a comition to be a Justice of ye peace.
