Minutes of HM Council: 12 September 1687

At a councell held at  the Sessions house SeptE the 12th  1687.

The GovernE proposed that no vessel go untill the Assembly have proposed a way for the security of these Islands.

Ordered that all men able to provide themselves Armes. And that care be taken that the Kings Stores at St Georges be secured with men sufficient for ye purpose. His HonE put it to the vote whether the vessels now intended to the Wreck in consideration of the present conservancy of time and affaires should be restrained. It did pass by plurality of votes that they should not be restrained with promise that they carry no more than a double gang. His HonE as Capt Gene will not admit of their going untill the Assembly hath satt and taken care for the safety of these Islands. Upon which HonE & Counsell ordered that the Assembly convene upon Monday next by virtue of his HonE's writt being the 19th instant. Anthony White & James Wale, attorneys to Mr Thomas Lintill of Barbadoes, mercht, their letter of attorney being read, generall debats arose upon the same. And the said attorneys deisred an attachment upon the said Lintills goods in Thomas Cooks hands. The Court gives the said White & Wale, attorneys to Thomas Lintell and also Thomas Cook two or three days to compose their differences and if they end it not in the said time than according to the petition of the said attorneys they shall have a special court which his HonE & Counsell promised to allow last court if by them desired.

The Sheriff preferred an acompt which in part he hath paid for the accommodation and payment of the guard at the alte Assembly. Allowed by the Court four pounds fourteen shillings.
