Minutes of HM Council: 10 August 1686
At a Councell table held at St Georges on Tuesday ye 10th August 1686. Then p'sent:

Proclamacon made for William Peniston, he did not appear.
Capt Barth. Sharp produced two orders from ye Rt Honble ye Gover and directed to ye said Sharp, bearing date ye 12th & 15th X.br 1685 for ye bringing down of William Righton, Junr, and his sloop.
Mr Richard Phillips made oath before ye Councell yt Willm Righton Senr did declare at ye house of ye said Phillips that ye said Righton had been in contencon in this country thirty five years.
Capt Barth. Sharp being sworne concerning Willm Righton Senrs. calling ye late Bermuda Compa knaves, ye said Righton owned yt he called them knaves. Willm Righton Senr often pressed ye Rt Honble Governor for warrants to warne his evidence.
Memorand. That ye Rt Honble ye Govern moved that ye Councell should remove into ye Country, that no restriction might be upon ye taking of evidence.
Willm. Righton Senr offering a paper to ye Councell, which he was ready to swear to, it was unanimously refused him, he being a party concernd. Ordered by ye Councell t proclamacon he made yt all persons yt have business with the Councell, do give teir attendance at Capt Anthony Whites house on Thursday next ye 12th instant by 8 of ye clock in ye morning.
