deposition before His Majesty's Council, 10 August 1686
John Stone of Hamilton Tribe, aged 42 years, being duly sworne upon ye holy Evangelists before ye Honble his Maties Councell deposeth & saith, yt since 18 months last past Mr Tho Harford & this depont going homewards from Towne in a boat, Mr Trott being with them, Mr Trott tould of severall articles agt ye Gove, and asked them if they would not go to Copeland Lee's to signe them; Mr Harford said he would signe them with both hands. Mr Harford further said he would have him sent for England if they would be ruled by him; said Harford, I would goe to him & say, God Sr. ye must goe now & soe send him away at once. Mr Trott laughing at him & said, ah, stout Harford, and since we came to shore & went up into Harford's porch & ye articles above sd were read; and when it came to in reading that ye Gover took away mens goods without tryall at law, Mr Harford said yt was true for he hath robbed me of two guns & further deposeth not.
