Notes for JOSEPH WOOD:
Walsingham, a home in Hamilton Parish, is located on Walsingham Bay near Castle Harbour. It is first mentioned in the will of Samuel Trott in 1699. Samuel Trott inherited the home from his father, Perient Trott, a member of the Bermuda Company. Perient came to Bermuda with his two brthers Samuel and Nicholas. Nicholas later became Governor of Bahamas. Another kinsman Nicholas Trott became Attorney General in Bermuda and later removed to South Carolina.The home is built in large part with half timbers. The home remained in the Trott family until 1812 when Joseph Wood acquired it. Wood added gothic porches. (Bermuda Hist. Quarterly)
