I doe sware that Mr Richard Stafford never spake to me about shouldering of ye Gover. out but in order to ye proving ye articles according to his Maties letter sent us.

Mr Stafford did tell me he had ingaged to see paid to Mr John Tucker in England ye sume of about twelve pounds for to incourage him to carry on ye Countrys complaint agt ye GoverE and yt this he would venter to doe if ye Country did refuse to pay him, and this Mr Stafford neither can nor will deny ye truth of wch is testified by ye humble servt.
