I received the following note from a submitter who has a book listed on BOWL: "I have been emailed twice today from someone claiming to have a copy of the book I've requested. At first I thought the offer to supply the book was legitimate. Then with each subsequent email the person's grasp of grammar gets worse. And at no time have they ever directed me to a bookseller's website." As with any transaction, please exercise extreme caution when considering purchasing books from people or vendors you do not know. If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. - Abebooks.com - claims to be the "world's largest source of out-of-print books.
- AddAll.com - a meta-search engine that compares the prices of a book across multiple websites.
- Alibris.com - has a narrower range of books than other sites, but still some gems for the finding.
- Amazon.com
- Barnes and Noble
- Bibliofind - search the catalogs of used- and rare-book dealers online.
- BookFinder.com - megasearch engine, will search catalog of several different online booksellers.
- Higginson Books - specializes in reprints of books no longer copyrighted.

should have written it down, and now it's beyond too late, a decade or
more too late, but I'll describe it and pray someone knows.
it's heavy on the Randolph's of Virginia. a largish but relatively thin
(1/2 inch-3/4 inch (?)) book, bright yellow or orange cover...with
gilded? title. I've looked for it on GoogleBooks and OpenLibrary.org and
did not recognise the ones that came up as it. I could be miss-
remembering anything or everything, but I do remember that it had a
listing of related Peytons in it. I've looked in a number of Randolph's
of VA and Peytons of Virginia books, but maybe it was of a different
title and I'm not sure what that might be. I only saw it once, in a
private library (an associate's, he's passed since then.). the other
Randolph books said little abt contemporary Peytons. I am looking for
proof of Valentine Peyton m. to Sarah Randolph
