The book contains letters from a Thomas William Magrath to his Reverand back home in England. The letters were written in the very early 1800's. The Reverand kept them and published them in 1833. The book has since been republished 120 years later in 1953. Thomas Magrath speaks of his marriage and his hobbies as well as his travels. KP4

Based chiefly on the records of Ste Anne parish (Detroit) and Assumption parish (now Windsor, Ont.) the material is organized into families with added information from Tanguay and other documents. It is the life work of The Rev Fr Christian Denissen who died in 1931, and published in book form in 1976 by the DSGR as a bicentennial project. A 2nd edition, with added contributions up to 1936, is currently out of print. PL

"A Man Austere - William Bell, Parson and Pioneer." Isabel Skelton, The Ryerson Press, Toronto, Ontario, 1947. The Rev. Wm Bell (1780-1857) was the first Presbyterian minister in the backwoods of Ontario, in what is now the town of Perth. He arrived in Perth in 1817, lived there all his life and kept a daily journal of his ministry, baptisms, etc. The book is his biography, based on his journal and other paper. While NOT a genealogical resource, there are some names mentioned. It is also a rich resource about the daily life of an early Canadian settlement. AM3
