General

"The Alsings of Sweden." Carol MacKay, Lilla Marbacka Forlag, 2004. A listing of known ALSINGS in Sweden prior to 1900. Does not cover any ALSINGS outside of Sweden. Includes genealogical connections when known. C16

"Cradled in Sweden." Carl-Erik Johansson, Everton Publishers, 2002. This is a book designed to help a researcher doing work at the LDS library in Salt Lake City. There is a section of the book that might be useful to those who don't own the book called "Alphabetical Index to all Parishes in Sweden." This gives the name of the parish, district, and county as well as the earliest year of both the Parish register and the Clerical survey record. There is also a section on the military names and their meanings. There is NO index information whatsoever on actual people...just research clues for finding out about our ancestors. JHP

"Slakten Noreen." Arvid Noreen, F. C. Askerbergs Forlag, Sweden, 1917. This is a genealogy of the Noreen/Noren/Norenius/Norenia family of Sweden, prior to 1917. The book is indexed. This family was descended from Erlandus Gudmundi, born 1554 in Dragaryd, Sweden. The book is written in Swedish. C16

Dalsland

"Frändeforsboken." Grane, Erik, 1985 Local area history book for the Frändefors socken (parish) in Dalsland, Sweden. Much of general regional history and history of all farms and their owners 1500 - 1900. You should know the farm name - not only the owner's name (it takes too much time to read hundreds of pages to find a person's name). DFH

"Torrskog, En dalslandssocken i ord och bild." Thurin, Sven; Thurin, Kerstin; Henrikson, Monica; et al., Munk-Reklam AB, Munkedal 1996. In Swedish. Title translation: "Torrskog, a parish in Dalsland, in word and picture". Information compiled by current residents from parish records dating back to late 1600s. 655 pages. L30

Kalmar County

"Olof Meurlings Stamträd vid Början af Tjugonde Seklet Charodotes." Meurling, Håkan Ohlssons Boktryckeri, 1902. Family history of the descendants of Olof Meurling (ca. 1660 - 1738), parish priest of Kristdala parish, Kalmar county, Sweden; for the most part only names and dates are included - places are not generally mentioned.
