About Our Chapter

The Antelope Valley Chapter was organized on February 19, 1956, with Mrs. Verne R. Smith as Organizing Regent.  In its 53-year existence, the Antelope Valley Chapter has been involved in numerous community, civic, and National Society events, and has supported an active Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) society

Our annual activities include:

  • The Chapter celebrates Constitution Week annually during the week of September 17 - 23.  Patriotic displays are set up for viewing at local libraries, and the City of Lancaster issues a Proclamation.  A guest speaker presents a program appropriate to the celebration of Constitution Week.
  • Also in September, the Chapter participates in the Antelope Valley Genealogical Society's annual KIN-DIG genealogy fair, assisting attendees and prospective members with Patriot look-ups and membership information.
  • In November, the Chapter participates in the Veteran's Day ceremonies at the Lancaster District Cemetery.  The Chapter also participates in the Cemetery's Memorial Day ceremonies in May.
  • In December, the Chapter sponsors a canned food drive for Grace Resource Center in Lancaster.
  • In May, Antelope Valley Chapter members present the Community Service Award to a deserving local community member, as well as a $500 scholarship to a nursing student at Antelope Valley College.  The Chapter also awards ROTC Medals to cadets from six local high school JROTC groups.

  • The Chapter supports the Sepulveda VA Medical Center with monetary gifts, magazines, and clothing.  Used postage stamps are collected throughout the year to be donated to veteran's groups.  The Chapter also supports the Family Service Center at Edwards Air Force Base by donating grocery coupons and clothing items.

  • The Chapter supports the DAR Schools with Campbell's product labels and monetary donations.

  • The Antelope Valley Chapter has members who are active at the District, State, and National levels.  We are consistently an award-winning chapter.
