Welcome to Contra Costa County Genealogical Society (CCCGS)!

Welcome to the Contra Costa County Genealogical Society website.  We are a non profit organization for people that have an interest in genealogy.  Whether you are an expert or are just beginning to question who your great grandparents were we have something for everyone.  Our meetings are held once a month on the second Thursday of every month (except August) and are open to the public so please come by and visit us.

A Brief History

The Contra Costa County Genealogical Society was founded in May, 1975 by several enthusiasts who had attended a Genealogy class in Concord CA.  From that small beginning we have grown into an organization of over 100 members and roughly 100 exchange societies and organizations.  CCCGS incorporated in 1976 as a non-profit organization.  We are not affiliated with any political or religious organization.  The goals of the Society are:

  • To promote knowledge of and interest in genealogy via meetings, newsletters, classes, lectures and publications

  • To assist individuals in their own research

  • To discover and preserve records, archives, and articles of historical, cultural, and genealogical interest

  • To participate in service projects benefiting individuals and the community at large
