The East Bay Genealogical Society (EBGS) was established in 1978 for the purpose of promoting interest in genealogy, biography, and related history. See our officer page with a brief history of EBGS written for our recent 30th anniverary luncheon and a list of Presidents and Editors. Our blog contains the most current news of our group.
Meetings are at 10:00am on the second Wednesday of each month. Usually meetings are held in the conference room of the Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints (Mormon Temple) on Lincoln Avenue in Oakland, California. This location is subject to change and occasionally meetings are "field trips" to research sites. We are not affiliated with LDS but they are very generous to us and to all Family History Center visitors, whether LDS members or not. We have the following programs planned for the near future in 2009:
- October - akland History Room at the Oakland Library. Details in our Blog.
- November - Stephen Harris to speak on City Directories
- December - Our fabulous annual Cookie Exchange!
Membership in EBGS is open to all. Annual dues are $15.00 for individuals or organizations and $7.50 for each additional family member. Dues for addresses outside of the United States are $22.50. Fill out and mail in our membership application if you're interested in joining. Please send to:
