Workshops are taught by known lecturers, authors and researchers. , in the Turrentine Room of the Escondido Public Library at 239 South Kalmia St, Escondido, CA 92025. The meetings are free and open to the public. Visitors are welcome to all meeting.     Map

January 30, 2016 "I Love Libraries: Using Libraries For Your Genealogy" by Gena Ortega. Gena is the author of hundreds of articles published in genealogy newsletters and magazines including Internet Genealogy, Family Chronicle, GenWeekly, FGS Forum, APG Quarterly and the WorldVitalRecords newsletter. She is the author of the books, Putting the Pieces Together, Cemeteries of the Eastern Sierra (Arcadia Publishing, 2007) and From the Family Kitchen (F + W Media, 2012). Gena is the editor of the Utah Genealogical Association’s journal Crossroads. An instructor for the National Institute for Genealogical Studies, Gena has written courses about social media and Google. She serves as Vice-President for the So. California Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, board member of the Utah Genealogical Association and is a Director for the California State Genealogical Alliance. March 5, 2016 EGS will use the Family History Fair in place of our March meeting. The Family History Fair is Saturday, March 5th, 9 am to 3 pm at the LDS Church, 2255 Felicita Rd, Escondido. Information & registration:

April 23, 2016 "Location - Location - Location - Land Matters In Genealogy" presented by Lisa Medina. Lisa is a member of EGS. She developed this presentation from a week long class she attend in Salt Lake City plus her own research. At the Turrentine Room of the Escondido Public Library.     Map

May 28, 2016 "Scotch-Irish and Irish Research" presented by Anne Bowman. Scotch-Irish or Scots-Irish refers to: The Ulster Scots people, an ethnic group in Ulster, Ireland, who trace their roots to settlers from Scotland. Scotch-Irish Americans, descendants of Ulster Scots who first migrated to America in large numbers in the 18th and 19th centuries. At the Turrentine Room of the Escondido Public Library.     Map

Summer Break

September 3, 2016 SHOW & TELL bring in some of your family treasures and tell us about them. Previously this has been a very interesting meeting. We will also be having our annual Crafts, Books and Bake Sale at the September meeting this year. It is not too soon to start working on your special craft that the Society can sell. Come and bring a craft, food or book to sell to other and raise funds for the club. At the Turrentine Room of the Escondido Public Library.     Map

October 29, 2016 Steve Moseley who told us about his grandfather's diary/journal at the September Show & Tell meeting will tell us more about his grandfather's story. Christmas Potluck Party. At the home of Ray and Gail Razer. Please bring yourself, a family member, a friend, or another member along with a side dish or dessert to share that serves 12 people. Ham, drinks and table service will be provided. We will open the doors at 4:00 pm and serving dinner about 4:30pm. You can feel free to leave or linger as long as you like.
