Roster of Fremont's California Battalion - Mexican War 1846

Original Roster of John C. Fremont's California Battalion, nine companies of volunteers which operated against the Mexican forces in California at the time of the occupation of the country by the United States (1846-1847).

Major Pierson B. Reading served as paymaster.  The manuscript roster came to the California State Library with his other personal papers.  It is recorded on official taxed paper issued by the Mexican government.
