	lives fifteen miles from Sacramento, at Elk Grove---his Post 
Office---and nine miles from Galt. He was born in Cass County, Michigan, in 
1846, and lived there until 1872, engaged in farming and saw milling; he came to 
California in that year, and settled in this county; subsequently he returned to 
Michigan and farmed one year, when he came back to this State, and is now 
farming. He owns twenty acres of land, a house and lot, worth in all about 
$3000. He was married in 1868 to Emily Beauchamp, also a native of Michigan.
