D., was born in Glasgow, Scotland, June 22, 1858, the oldest of four children born to his parents, James and Barbara (Shaw) Barr, both natives of Scotland. Living in Glasgow until his thirteenth year, in 1871, Dr. Barr came to America, settling in Rockford, Ill. There he attended the public schools, and in 1877, went to Beatrice, Neb., where he lived until 1881. Returning to Rockford in the fall of 1887 entered the Chicago Medical College, from which he was graduated in the class of 1890. Locating in Rockford, he engaged in practice until 1891, when he went to Oregon, being located there for two years. In 1893 he came to Marysville, Cal., where he opened an office and started a general practice of medicine and surgery. Dr. Barr is a Republican in politics. He is a member and president of the Yuba and Sutter Counties Medical Society, a member of the California Northern District Medical Society, and the State Medical Society. Fraternally he is associated with Yuba Lodge No. 39, F. & A. M., Washington Chapter No. 13, R. A. M., Marysville Commandery No. 7, K. T., the Scottish Rite Consistory of Oakland, Cal., and with Islam Temple N. M. S. The doctor married, in Marysville, Hedwick T.
