Page 270. lives three miles from Elk Grove, his Post Office, and thirteen miles from Sacramento. Was born in State of New York, in 1842. When quite young he moved, with his parents, to Illinois. He has lived in several of the Western and Southern States. In 1854 he came across the plains to California; he then engaged in mining at Placerville, which he followed with fair success for about five years. He then settled in this county, on his present location, and has been engaged principally in farming ever since. He owns one hundred and sixty acres of land, which, with improvements, are worth about $3000. Mr. Bartholomew was married in 1866 to Miss Harriet Y.
