	lives one mile from Elk Grove, which is his Post Office, and 
sixteen miles from Sacramento; he was born in Pennsylvania, in 1839, and lived 
there until 1856; he came to California in that year, across the plains, and was 
engaged in the lumber trade in El Dorado County until 1863; he then settled in 
this county, on his present location. He owns three hundred and twenty acres of 
land, which, with improvements, are worth about $8000. Mr. Beans was married in 
1869 to Miss Emma E. McFall, a native of New York State.
