He is a naive of Scotland, and was born at Kelso, October 6, 1834. He came to America in 1857, and located in Monterey county in 1863, where he has successfully farmed about 300 acres of the Cooper ranch, producing chiefly potatoes and grain, and he keeps about forty head of horses, his ranch being one of the largest in the vicinity. Mr. Blakie was married at the little town of Castroville, to a daughter of Thomas Will- iams. Mrs. Blakie is a native of the State of Connecticut. About a year ago, he removed with his family to their home place, "Cypress Corner," in San Miguel canon.
