BRYAN Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP Page 247 Post Office, Routier; lives thirteen miles east of Sacramento, and two miles from Routier; was born in Kentucky, in 1821, and lived there until 1853; he came to California in that year, across the plains, and followed teaming, in El Dorado County, until 1860; he then came to this county, and continued the business of teaming until 1867; since then, he has been engaged in farming and stock-raising; owns eight hundred and ninety-one acres, worth, with improvements, about ten thousand dollars. He has made two trips back to Kentucky, in 1867 and 1878. Mr. Bryan was married, in 1845, to Miss M. G. Herndon, also a native of Kentucky, who has borne him three sons and two daughters; one daughter deceased. He was elected to the Legislature, from this county, in 1873, serving one term.
