Yolo County Biographies This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm JAMES CAMPBELL James Campbell, a farmer near Davisville, is the son of M. and Agnes (Crummy) Campbell, natives of Ireland, and was born June 10, 1837. In 1848, the family removed to St. Louis, Missouri and two years afterward to Lee County, Illinois, where the father died in 1856. Mr. Campbell, our subject, then resided in Kansas four years and then in 1860 came to California. The first year here he worked in the mines; the second year in the lumber business; the next six years he drove a mule team between Sacramento City and Virginia City, and next went to Davisville and rented land of Green & Hutchinson, for six years, and finally, in 1876, he purchased the place where he now lives, which contains 265 acres, a mile west of Davisville. In 1867, he was united in marriage with Ellen Fitzgerald, in Sacramento, and their four children are; Ella, born in 1869; Mary, 1872; Frank, 1876; and Charles, 1879.
