Page 245 Lives eleven miles from Sacramento, which is his Post Office; owns two thousand nine hundred acres of land, 640 acres of which is in Sacramento County; was born in New Hampshire in 1818; in 1836 he removed to New York, and subsequently to Ohio, where he lived until 1852, engaged as a cooper; he came to California in that year, and remained about four years and Sacramento City. In 1856 he purchased the old Eagle Hotel, in Placer County, and ran it about seven years; travel on that road then being light, he removed to his present place in American Township, where he has since been engaged in farming and stock raising.
