He came to Monterey county and located near Salinas in 1871, where he has since resided, engaged in agricultural pursuits. He is now cultivating about 700 acres of land. Mr. Conlan is a native of Ireland, born March 22, 1845. He was reared a farmer, and came to America by way of Australia in 1863. He was married in Salinas to Miss Mary McGeary, April 10, 1883, and their union has been blessed by the birth of four children, namely: Mary, Agnes, Maggie and John, Jr. Mr. Conlan is an enterprising man, a successful farmer and a respected citizen.
