Page 271. lives eighteen miles from Sacramento and four miles from Georgetown, his Post Office; was born in Ross County, Ohio, in 1830, and remained there until 1852; he then moved to Iowa and engaged in farming until 1859; he came to California in that year and engaged in mining at Shasta; subsequently he ran farm machinery until 1861, when he settled in this county, and soon after, on the place where he now lives; owns two hundred and forty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $4000; he is now engaged in farming and running farm machinery. Mr. Core has held the office of Road Supervisor and School Trustee. He was married in 1863 to Elizabeth L. Carroll, a native of Indiana, and who has borne him five children, all of whom are living---three sons and two daughters.
