Page 271-272. lives ten miles from Sacramento, and four miles from Elk Grove, his Post Office; was born in Connecticut in 1839; moved to Michigan in 1841, and lived there until 1860; in that year he came to California, and was engaged in sheep herding for nearly two years; he then followed teaming one year over the mountains to the mines; then he turned his attention to farming; he settled where he now lives in 1869; owns one hundred and fifty acres of land, worth, with improvements, about $3,000. Mr. Dart has held the office of School Trustee; he was married in 1869 to Mary A. Jackson, a native of Iowa, and who has borne him five children, all of whom are living---three sons and two daughters.
