DAVIES Transcribed by: Nancy Pratt Melton This file is part of the California Genealogy & History Archives http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cagha/index.htm BRIGHTON TOWNSHIP Page 247 Post Office, Brighton; lives seven miles south-east of Sacramento; was born in Wales in 1821; emigrated to the United States in 1850, and lived in Illinois until 1854, engaged in mining coal; in that year he went to Utah, and followed farming until 1856; he then came to California, and settled in this county; camped three months on Bowles Island, and hauled logs to the Brighton Mill; he has been farming ever since on the place where he now lives; owns four hundred and fifty acres, worth, with improvements, about $20,000.
