Page 277. farmer, dairyman and stock-raiser; lives five miles south of Sacramento, his Post Office; owns 160 acres of land, valued, with improvements, at about $5,000; born in Virginia in 1825; parents moved to Kentucky when he was quite young; he engaged in farming until 1850, then came to California across the plains; followed mining in Yuba County, on the Feather River, for about one year, then moved to this county, where he has since been engaged in farming, stock-raising and dairying. Married Miss M. L. Lonnon, a native of Kentucky, in 1870; they have three sons and one daughter. Mr. Davis has held the office of Road Overseer. A view of his place is given elsewhere.
